Choose around their needs

Ducks need easy floor-level access, ventilation and moisture-tolerant cleaning surfaces. Elevated chicken-style layouts and narrow ramps may be less suitable.

Place the shelter on drainage-friendly ground and provide generous ventilation without drafts. Ducks create more moisture than chickens, so bedding and floor checks need to be frequent.
