Choose around their needs

For outdoor houses, internal sleeping space, elevation, roof access and weather protection are more useful comparisons than decorative exterior size. Porch designs add shade but can increase the footprint significantly.

Choose a house large enough to turn around but not so oversized that it loses warmth. Place it on dry level ground, face the entrance away from prevailing weather and inspect wood finishes regularly.
